Posted at Thu, Feb 2, 2023 4:30 PM

Ford's diverse lineup of vehicles offers a range of exciting fuel-efficient options. And with Ford, fuel efficiency doesn't mean you have to confine yourself to a compact sedan; crossovers, larger SUVs, and even trucks with higher gas mileage are available to help you keep costs down at the pump. Take a look at some of the top Ford vehicles for gas mileage, and don't hesitate to contact us if you'd like to test drive any of them near Dallas.

Ford Mustang Mach-E MPG

The Mustang Mach-E is Ford's first all-electric SUV, so it's hardly surprising that it stands out for its remarkable fuel efficiency. It achieves 103 mpg-equivalent (MPGe) in its standard rear-wheel-drive setup and just over 90 MPGe in all-wheel drive.

The Mach-E can achieve up to 312 miles of driving on a full charge, making it one of the longest driving ranges in the electric crossover class. The Mach-E's electric motors and battery pack provide 266 horsepower in its base setup and reach a remarkable 480 horsepower in the high-powered Mach-E GT.

The Mach-E boasts about 30 cubic feet of storage at the rear, making this a great crossover for a small family. The two-row passenger cabin can accommodate two adults or three kids in the second row. You get synthetic leather upholstery in the standard setup and genuine leather and heated front seats as an optional upgrade.

Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid MPG

The Escape Plug-In Hybrid's powertrain is led by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that, when combined with an electric motor and 14 kWh battery pack, puts out 221 horsepower. It achieves an impressive 105 MPGe and offers an all-electric driving range of 37 miles. Even the Escape Hybrid, which lacks the all-electric driving range of the plug-in hybrid version, manages a strong 44 mpg on city roads and 37 mpg on the highway.

Regardless of which powertrain you choose, the Escape offers adult-friendly seating in both rows. It boasts over 30 cubic feet of storage behind the second row and over 60 cubic feet with the rear row folded flat.

Ford Maverick Hybrid MPG

The Maverick is Ford's latest edition to its outstanding pickup truck lineup, and it's an ideal choice if you’re looking for a fuel-efficient ride. The Maverick Hybrid has an output of 191 horsepower thanks to its four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. With this setup, the Maverick achieves 42 mpg on city roads and 33 mpg on the highway, which are the best numbers of any non-electric vehicle pickup truck on the market. Moreover, the Maverick Hybrid can tow up to 2,000 pounds, which should be enough for you to haul a small trailer or camper out of town.

Inside, this truck has a cargo bed measuring 4 feet 6 inches in length, with a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds. Up front, the cab provides two rows of seating for a maximum of five people. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but you can upgrade to synthetic leather seats and other upscale features.

Ford Edge MPG

The Ford Edge offers decent gas mileage if you want a larger SUV powered by a standard gas engine. With its base turbocharged four-cylinder unit, which puts out 250 horsepower, this SUV manages 28 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg on city roads. A twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine is also available for a bit more power. But that option reduces your fuel economy to 25 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.

The Edge has a spacious cabin and seating for up to five people. At the rear, you'll find over 39 cubic feet of storage space, which should be more than enough to transport your family's daily cargo or luggage for a vacation. The Edge also boasts a 3,500-pound towing capacity, which means it can handle a decent-sized trailer or boat.

Ford Explorer Hybrid MPG

Many families struggle to get around Dallas without a third row in their SUV, which is where the Explorer Hybrid can help. It offers the extra seating you need while providing solid fuel economy to help you keep gas costs down. The Explorer Hybrid's standard setup with a 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine and an electric motor achieves 27 mpg on city roads and 28 mpg on the highway. If you opt for a four-wheel-drive model, these figures drop to 23 mpg and 26 mpg, respectively.

The Explorer Hybrid offers seating for six people in its base configuration. However, you can add a seventh seat by swapping the second-row captain's chairs for a bench seat. At the rear, there are over 18 cubic feet of storage space when you have a full load of passengers, which should give you enough room to transport groceries.

Ford Bronco Sport MPG

If you enjoy off-roading but want a vehicle with good fuel efficiency, try the Ford Bronco Sport. It's not quite as rugged as its more famous Ford Bronco cousin, but this compact SUV can still hold its own on a trail. The Bronco Sport's base engine is a turbocharged three-cylinder unit with 181 horsepower. It achieves 28 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg on city roads. This may sound less competitive than other vehicles of the Bronco Sport's size, but you should remember that four-wheel drive comes standard throughout the lineup.

Inside the cabin, there's plenty of headroom in both rows for adults to sit. At the rear, you'll find over 32 cubic feet of storage. That should give you enough room for your cargo when heading out for an off-roading adventure.

As you can see, Ford has a great selection of solid fuel-efficient vehicles. If you have questions about the performance of the Edge, Maverick, or Bronco Sport, don't hesitate to contact our Ford experts.
