The Best Places to Enjoy Dallas with Your Dog

Posted at Mon, Dec 27, 2021 12:00 PM

If you own a dog, you know that there are many unique opportunities to spend the day having fun with your four-legged friend in Dallas. Whether you're looking for a long walk, playtime with others or something special, Dallas has you covered. Your dog would do anything for you, and that's why it's important to find fun activities they love which you can share together, as well.

At Planet Ford Dallas, we love our dogs, and we know you love yours, too. We put together this list of the best places to go with your dog in Dallas to share our insights and experiences with you. We hope that you can find new ways to live with and love your furry friend thanks to this list. So the next time you're at a loss for what to do, try one of these options:

Bark Park Central

If you're heading downtown, consider taking your dog to Bark Park Central, located underneath an overpass of the central expressway. Although the location can mean the park gets noisy, it may not be the best option if your dog gets nervous at the sound of traffic. On the other hand, if your dog enjoys the sounds of the city, it can be an excellent option. In addition, the overpass provides plenty of shade for you and your dogs, so you can enjoy even the hottest day at this park without feeling overheated.

Dallas Heritage Village

If you're looking for a day outdoors with your dog, which is also fun and educational, consider stopping by the Dallas Heritage Village. The 20-acre village grounds include historic homes and structures dating as far back as 1840 and are dog friendly. When you're there, make sure to check out the 1860's living farmstead, which includes fully costumed docents who provide historical reenactments of life on a farm in the 19th century. So you won't just finish your day haven't had a great time, you'll finish it having learned something new, as well.

Yoga is a great fitness activity, which is not only great for you physically but can also be great for you mentally due to its relaxing nature. One way you can take the therapeutic benefits of a yoga session and make them even more pronounced is to add the love of your pooch as you do it. With dog yoga in Craddock Park every Sunday at 10 am, you can follow along through the poses with the help of your pup and maybe meet some other friendly, furry companions as well.

Market Shopping

Having a fun day in Dallas doesn't have to require going to dog-specific activities. Dallas is one of the best dog walking cities in the country, and you can have a day out enjoying yourself running errands while still spending quality time with your best friend. One of the most enjoyable ways to spend an evening or afternoon with your dog is to visit one of Dallas' outdoor markets. These markets allow you to shop and pick up items you need while also getting quality time with your dog, which matters most of all.

Main Street Garden

For dog owners whose pets are high-energy, a trip to the Main Street Garden may be just what you need. In addition to a park you can enjoy with your dog on a leash, the Main Street Garden features an off-leash dog run. You can head to the run with your pets in tow and let them fly. By the time they leave, your dog will be sure to be all tuckered out. Make sure you budget time for relaxation and snuggles with your tired terrier when you get home, and is there any better way to finish a day than that?

Public Parks and Trails

Getting outdoors in the fresh air is an enriching opportunity to improve your health and enjoy your day. Taking your dog with you makes every hike even more fun and helps to keep your dog healthier and happier too. The excellent news for Dallas residents is that there's no shortage of public parks and trails that you can take your dog to, whether you're looking for a simple walk in the park or a winding trail. Find your nearest park, or one with new paths for you to explore for the first time, and get out your leash so you can bring your buddy.

The McKinney Avenue Trolley

When planning your day out with your dog, you need to know how you're going to get around. One option you should consider is the McKinney Avenue Trolley. Take me to trolley provide the blast from the past with this classic form of transportation, and the trolley is dog friendly, so there's no problem keeping your best friend with you as you go.

Have a Street Art Photo Shoot

Some of the best days with your dog don't have to involve a set destination. Dallas is home to some of the most incredible street art, and much of it makes for an excellent backdrop for pictures of your pooch. So take a walk down the street with your dog and keep your eyes peeled for some of the magnificent murals on display, then position your buddy in front for a social media-ready snap.
