Ford has built a reputation for selling reliable cars, trucks, and SUVs. Unfortunately, no matter how sturdy a vehicle is, it will still break down, sometimes at the most inopportune time. Should the unthinkable happen to you, the Ford Protect RentalCARE extended service plan covers the cost of your rental vehicle while we make the repairs. This way, you get to keep you driving even when your car breaks down.
When you bring your Ford into a dealership in the United States or Mexico, your Ford Protect RentalCARE plan covers the cost to rent a replacement vehicle while the dealership makes the repairs. RentalCARE covers the cost of your rental car up to $30 per day. In addition, you have up to three days of coverage for each repair, and there's no deductible.
All your covered repairs under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty qualify for RentalCARE coverage. You also have coverage for all of Ford's customer satisfaction programs and any recalls for your vehicle. You're covered on the first day the repairs begin. That said, you must purchase the RentalCARE plan within 12 months or 12,000 miles from your warranty start date.
Ford offers RentalCARE in five different time and mileage plans. The lowest plan provides coverage for up to 24 months or 36,000 miles. The next two plans give you either 27 or 36 months or 36,000 miles, each with an option for 45,000 miles. Next is a 39-month/45,000-mile plan with an option for 50,000 miles. The top-tier plan covers you for 48 months or 50,000 miles. When you opt for the higher mileage plan, you add coverage to over 1,000 covered components.
Ford allows you to transfer all plans to the new owner should you sell your vehicle. This benefit adds value to your car. An enhanced rental option also increases your daily rental amount to $60.00 and lets you get a premium vehicle.
Our savvy Dallas customers ask us a lot of good questions. So we took the time to include the most commonly asked questions here with our answers.
Yes. As a licensed Ford dealership, Planet Ford Dallas has the authorization to sell and service the Ford Protect RentalCARE program.
Yes, provided you purchase the plan before the original factory warranty expires. If your warranty has expired, you can still buy the RentalCARE plan after we perform a vehicle inspection.
You still qualify provided the vehicle falls within the age and mileage ranges.
If you purchased a new vehicle plan, you have up to 3 years or 36,000 miles to change your coverage. You are responsible for the difference in the cost of coverage. If you purchased a used vehicle plan, you have 60 days from the contract's date to make any changes.
Buying the plan now locks in today's rates, saving you money down the road.
No, your RentalCARE plan complements your warranty coverage by providing you additional protection.
On a new vehicle plan, coverage starts at zero miles on the day the vehicle was put into service. But with a used vehicle plan, your coverage begins on the contract date and current mileage when you purchased the plan. All Ford cars, trucks, and SUVs with over 41 months or 41,000 miles require an extended services contract to be in place, or a vehicle inspection and all repairs completed by an authorized Ford dealer, before you can purchase the RentalCARE plan.
Yes. However, you must purchase a commercial RentalCARE extended services plan. Vehicles used for business such as delivering, government, farming, construction, and ride-sharing qualify as business vehicles.
If you need repairs under the circumstances mentioned above, you can apply for plan benefits at any Ford dealership. However, we recommend contacting your nearest Ford dealership for more immediate and convenient service, particularly if you travel far from home for work or vacation.
When you arrive at the Ford dealership, inform your service representative that you have a Ford Protect RentalCARE plan and you will need alternative transportation. Remember, your rental benefit starts if you need to leave your vehicle at the dealership due to a covered component's failure. Therefore, your service representative may not immediately approve a rental until they've determined the cause of failure and confirmed coverage.
Your benefits cover the cost of a rental if your car must be kept overnight to finish a covered repair. Cover only starts the day repairs begin unless your vehicle was inoperable when you brought it in for service or if continued driving would cause more damage.
Many Ford dealers like Planet Ford Dallas have loaner programs and on-site rental car programs. So when you bring your car to Planet Ford Dallas, we can provide you with a replacement vehicle and file the claim through Ford directly, never costing you a dime.
Some dealerships have arrangements with national car rental companies to handle these claims. The dealership will obtain a copy of the rental receipt to include in the claim in this situation. If no relationship exists between a dealer and a rental company, you must rent the car yourself. Be sure to stay within your plan's limits and alert the dealership to your rental. Again, you will need to provide them with a copy of your rental receipt for reimbursement.
At Planet Ford Dallas, we know how much you want to protect the investment you made in your car. You rely on it for work, family, and pleasure. If you want to learn more about the Ford Protect RentalCARE plan, we encourage you to inquire today with an extended services professional. They'll explain the different options and provide you with pricing to help you decide.
