“Trading One Uniform For Another” Program
Concludes with Five $10,000 Scholarships

DEARBORN, Mich., December 27, 2016 – Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center announced yesterday it has awarded five $10,000 scholarships to U.S. military veterans through its “Trading One Uniform For Another” program. Developed in collaboration with the Disabled American Veterans organization (DAV) these scholarships will be applied towards costs associated with obtaining a certification in automotive maintenance and repair.

Quick Lane understands that finding meaningful employment is an important task for many service men and women after retiring from active military duty. To assist them in acquiring the skills they need to become qualified automotive technicians, Quick Lane has awarded scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each to five veterans. These funds can be used to pay for tuition, books, and fees at any community college, university, trade or vocational school in the U.S. with an accredited program in automotive mechanics.

“The ‘Trading One Uniform For Another’ program is another example of Quick Lane’s commitment to the men and women who served our country and helping to provide employment opportunities after their service,” said Frederiek Toney, president, Global Ford Customer Service Division. “We are proud to stand beside the DAV in awarding these scholarships to our U.S. military veterans, thanking them for their service, and congratulating them on the pursuit of a career in automotive maintenance and repair.”

Veterans were nominated by friends and family who submitted short essays to Quick Lane regarding why their nominee would be a deserving recipient. The winners are listed below. More information on each awardee is available at QLtradingone.com.
