Finding fun things to do and interesting places to visit is a breeze in the Dallas, Texas, area. Whether you're going on a first date or taking your partner out to celebrate an anniversary, here are seven ideas to help you plan a date night in Dallas.
Feel like a kid again when you and someone special ride the Texas Star Ferris wheel at the State Fair of Texas. This Ferris wheel is the largest in the state and one of the most popular rides on the State Fair midway. When you reach the top of the wheel, at a height of 212 feet, you're rewarded with sweeping views of the Dallas skyline. Make the ride on the Texas Star extra romantic by taking a spin on it at sunset.
At night, you and your date can enjoy the multicolored lights of the midway from your vantage point on the Texas Star Ferris wheel. Another way to see Dallas and the State Fair's midway from up high is to ride the Texas Skyway gondola that stretches 1,800 feet between two stations. After your ride, stroll through the fair to see live music, toss coins for prizes, and eat sweet funnel cakes. The State Fair of Texas normally runs from the end of September through early October. You can find the fair at 1300 Robert B. Cullum Boulevard.
For a cozy date night idea, head over to Eight |11 Place at 7080 Main Street in historic downtown Frisco. Enjoy handcrafted cocktails, award-winning wines, or your favorite beer while sharing tapas-style plates of food. After your meal, order a beverage and sit on the patio in front of the fire pit. Listen to live music and make gooey, chocolaty s'mores. Order the S'mores Board to get everything you need to make this beloved campfire dessert. Check the website's calendar of events to learn about intimate live music performances.

Show up on Friday nights for discounted drinks and dance lessons or on Thrifty Thursdays for inexpensive drinks and free pool all night. You can find Guitars and Cadillacs at 4750 Bryant Irvin Road in Fort Worth.
Take your date to one of the best places to get a unique burger in the Dallas area when you stop at Rodeo Goat at 1926 Market Center Boulevard near Turtle Creek. Once you sit at your table, order a Texas-made beer, a glass of California wine, or your favorite cocktail while you peruse the menu.
Sample unique burgers like the Mike Rawlings made with a ground beef patty, Irish whiskey cheddar cheese, candied bacon, blackberry compote, and whole-grain mustard. Rodeo Goat also serves plant-based burgers or ones made from ground chicken or turkey. Pair your burger with sweet potato fries, chips and salsa, or a side green salad.
You and your date can have fun figuring out "who done it" when you stop by Texas Star Dinner Theater for a delicious meal and a live murder mystery show. The Lagniappe Productions company, with 30 years of experience providing Old West entertainment, puts on The Lone Star Murder Mysteries shows with professional actors and entertainers. The actors, dressed as cowboys, saloon girls, and gunfighters, put on a show that will have you laughing as you try to solve the murder.
You're treated to dinner while you watch the show with offerings such as country-fried steak, baked chicken or fish, and a vegetarian option. Save room for dessert, and sample the raspberry cheesecake or marbled chocolate mousse cake. Find Texas Star Dinner Theater at 816 South Main Street in Grapevine.
